Once you know where you’ll be boating, make sure you let someone know about your trip. In the case of an emergency, a float plan will provide essential information to rescuers. Your float plan will tell your designated contact when you are scheduled to return, and in the event that you are overdue, the float plan will provide details necessary to conduct a more informed search and rescue.
HOW TO USE YOUR ELECTRONIC FLOAT PLAN
You can now fill out your float plan electronically, send it in an email, and create an electronic and/or mobile alert if you do not return on time! You can choose your planned return date and time, and then select the time you want an alert sent to your emergency contact. You – the boater – will receive an email or text message reminding you to turn off your alert upon return. Please make sure you turn off the alert as soon as you return so your emergency contact does not receive an unnecessary alert.
NOTICE TO BOATERS
This electronic float plan feature is provided as a convenience to boaters. It is not intended to replace verbal or written float plans.
